Dr. Joanne E. Collins was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She graduated at the top of her class from Confederation College’s Dental Assisting program and the University of Manitoba’s Dental Hygiene program. At the University of Toronto, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Dentistry and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Honorary Dental Society. Dr. Collins has received numerous awards and scholarships throughout her academic years.
Following dental school, Dr. Collins worked as a dental intern at the Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto. She has been posted at both the Moose Factory and Sioux Lookout nursing station dental clinics. Dr. Collins has spent two years in general dentistry private practice.
Dr. Collins received her Masters degree in Orthodontics from the University of Western Ontario in London. She has been practicing orthodontics on adults, teens and children since 1993. She currently sits on the Medical Advisory Committee for Camp Oochigeas, the cancer camp for kids. She is a Team Captain for the annual Light the Night Walk for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
Dr. Collins is happily married to her husband Dr. Chris Karolidis and is a dedicated mother to her three children Alexandra, Jonathan and Stefan. She enjoys snowboarding, skiing, reading and training for her next marathon race.
